Excavation Across Dominion Court, Dulany Drive and Driveways on Old Dominion Drive
NOTICE TO RESIDENTS IN THE VICINITY OF THE OLD DOMINION DRIVE BELTWAY BRIDGE IN MCLEAN
Excavation Across Dominion Court, Dulany Drive and Driveways on Old Dominion Drive to Begin as Soon as August 7
August 6, 2024
What's Happening?
Starting as early as Wednesday, August 7, crews will excavate and remove asphalt on driveways on Old Dominion Drive near the new Beltway bridge and across Dominion Court and Dulany Drive near where the roads meet Old Dominion Drive. This work is needed to install new drainage infrastructure, and will occur during regular daytime hours for up to three weeks.
Excavation will occur on Dulany Drive (above), Dominion Court (below) and affected driveways (both) approximately where the red squares are shown. Realigned Old Dominion Drive is shown in dark green.
What to Expect:
One-way access to driveways will be maintained at all times by progressing the work in halves (e.g., half of a given driveway will be excavated first while traffic uses the other half, followed by the reverse operation).
A flagging operation will be in place on Dulany Drive and Dominion Court to maintain alternating one-way traffic to keep traffic moving as efficiently and safely as possible. Safety barrels and construction tape will delineate active work areas.
Saw-cutting of asphalt and excavation will produce noise and dust.
After installation of the drainage infrastructure, the excavated areas will be temporarily filled with compacted gravel until the new bridge and realigned Old Dominion Drive are completed, at which time new pavement will be installed. Completion of the bridge and realigned Old Dominion Drive is planned for late fall/early winter 2024.
