Please join Ted Tsukiyama -- veteran, attorney, community leader, historian and public speaker -- for a "talk-story" Q&A session moderated by Byrnes Yamashita at the
Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii on Saturday, November 18. In honor of Veterans Day and the traveling Go For Broke exhibit, "
Courage and Compassion: Our Shared Story of the Japanese American WWII Experience," being hosted at the JCCH, Ted's talk will focus on his military service and dedication to chronicling the AJA WWII experience.
Like so many Japanese Americans born in the years following World War I, Ted was shaped by the Great Depression, fought with honor in WWII -- even as other AJAs were exiled in internment camps -- and went on to contribute much to his country's success and prosperity. In a life that has spanned nearly a century, he has been a proud member of the U.S. Army's 442nd Regimental Combat Team, a military intelligence operative serving in the jungles of Burma, a groundbreaking nisei student at Yale Law, and internationally renowned attorney and a missionary of the art of bonsai.
