me
Greetings!

Tomorrow I will spend my favorite day of the year with special friends and family. I'm so excited!

I've been gearing up the last two weeks for the big day. I've had insane amounts of energy and stamina during the day followed by warm, cozy, restful nights. This is a recipe for a sane and centered holiday!

Wondering what's on the Health Coach's menu tomorrow? I'll start the day with the usual...green smoothie, then probably another one for lunch. And for dinner I'll try a little taste of everything...

Over the years I've learned how to relax and enjoy the day without worrying about the food.

Most importantly, I will relish in the bounty that surrounds me and give thanks for a meal shared with family and friends.

With joy, love and gratitude,

Christie
P.S. A special thank you to all the readers of this newsletter. I am truly thankful to have you as a part of the Healthful Everafter community and wish you and your families a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.

4 Quick Tips To Avoid Holiday Sabotage

The average American gains 5 to 7 pounds during the holiday season. The flip side is that if you have the ability to cope with stress, you have the ability to tap into your metabolic power and keep the pounds off.

1. Have a plan. By having a plan (or commitment with yourself) in place you'll set yourself up for success. Know what you're going to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

2. Don't deprive yourself of nutrition. Skipping meals deprives your body of nutrition and will set you up for a binge. It's better to eat 3 nutritious meals.

3. Be your own expert. There are enough confusing and conflicting dietary theories out there to drive you nuts! Learn to trust what your body tells you. When you start to feel full, stop eating.

4. Stop rushing around. You can eat the healthiest foods but if you consume them in a state of rushing, your physiologic stress response will cause a dramatic rise in nutrient loss and a huge decline in calorie burning capacity. So try your best to slow down this holiday season!

It only takes the body 1 minute to destress and move into a maximum nutritious metabolic state.

When you're in a chronic low level stress state it's hard to lose weight because your body is in fight or flight mode. So here's a special tip for getting out of fight or flight mode and getting into optimal digestion mode:

Sit in a chair with your feet on the floor and your hands in your lap. Inhale fully through your nose for a count of 5. Hold for 5 seconds. Exhale fully through your nose for a count of 5. Repeat 5 times.
