Assessments have become an important evaluation step in the hiring process for many organizations.  They provide valuable insights that prevent hiring mistakes.  Read on to learn what assessments measure.

Dos & Don'ts

Are pre-employment assessments legal?

(Answer provided at the end of the newsletter.)

Why Assessments?

Peter Drucker estimates that two thirds of hiring decisions might be mistakes.  A resume tells you about a person's past and an interview provides a current day view.  But, what about the future?  Use assessments to increase your chance of predicting future success.  Assessments provide objectivity that can increase the likelihood of a quality hire by as much as 50%.

Depending on the position, consider assessments that measure:

  • Sales proficiency
  •  Work behaviors and interests
  • Team interaction style
  • Attitudes regarding integrity, substance abuse, reliability, and work ethics.
Save time and minimize hiring mistakes by selecting assessments that provide quantifiable data to help you make an educated hiring decision.
Stop Hiring Sales Duds!

Have you ever hired sales candidates who looked good on paper, sold themselves well during interviews, yet six months later delivered limited sales results?  Take the guess work out of the equation through sales specific assessments.  Use the Devine Inventory to produce valuable insights into a candidate's sales competencies.

Evaluate the following competencies to determine a candidate's likelihood of sales success:
  • Ambition & Drive
  • Control & Close
  • Problem Solving
  • Relationship Effectiveness
  • Process Orientation

Safari Interview Tip

Before conducting an office interview, we recommend having candidates complete a behavioral assessment.  Based on the results you can interview the candidates with questions modified based upon their behavioral traits.
