Chicago Park District Upgrades Update

3rd Ward Parks are seeing significant upgrades under Alderman Dowell's leadership! This year's projects include major renovations to local pools, comfort stations, and park district facilities. To keep residents updated on projects in their neighborhood, Alderman Dowell has compiled the list below:

  • Taylor Park PoolConstruction of the Taylor Park pool continues and due to unforeseen conditions during construction, the pool opening has been delayed until July 3rd. This nearly $1 million rebuild of the pool includes new stainless steel gutter, surge tank, filtration system, main drain valves, and new pool deck. A new liner will also be installed after pool season is complete.

  • Fuller Park Pool – Scheduled to open Monday, June 17. The Chicago Park District also has in its queue to address the pool deck and entrance as well as field house doors. No construction schedule for that work has been established.

  • Metcalfe ParkThe comfort station is complete and opening today, June 14th! The outdoor site work including spray feature, paving, tennis court and basketball court is in the bid/award phase and the Park District expects to award a contract next week with construction underway this Summer 2024.

  • Williams Park New protective windows have been scoped and a contractor hired; the Park District is working with the supplier on schedule for delivery and installation.

  • Armstrong Park The outdoor fitness station is complete.

As additional updates become available, Alderman Dowell will alert the community immediately.
