One of the biggest problems middle-aged women face is slowing down of metabolism.
Sometimes I find that after the stress of the holidays I have a harder time boosting my metabolism back to where it was. Does that sound familiar?
And let's face it, it's not easy keeping "New Years Resolutions." Am I right?
So here are 3 steps you can start right away to rev up your metabolism and get back on track:
Step #1: Think about what truly nourishes you. What is it that gets in the way of how well you feed yourself.
Stop judging yourself or making deals with yourself around food. This takes up a lot of energy and in turns slows down your metabolism. Instead you might approach your relationship to food with curiosity. Be aware and notice the pleasure of eating. When you don't pay attention to your meal, the brain will send the signal to keep eating and you end up consuming excess food.
Instead of thinking about losing weight, think about gaining life!
Step #2: Relax as much as you can when you sit down to eat a meal. You might already be eating healthy, but if you do so in a stressed out anxious state, you are causing dramatic digestive upset. This is so common.
If you are having trouble building up your metabolism, more than likely you are moving too fast. When you eat fast it literally destroys your metabolism and diminishes calorie burning power. If you can get in the habit of eating slowly your metabolism will automatically speed up.
Step #3: Do a short detox. There is nothing better than a detox to reboot your metabolism. Not only will a detox clear toxins and sludge from your body but it will give your organs and digestion a much needed time-out.
A detox consisting of mostly fruits and vegetables (no fasting) is most beneficial for most people and can improve your immune system, boost metabolic power, increase energy and set the stage for new healthy habits that last.
