Dear LTHS Parents/Guardians & Students,

I hope this email finds you having had a great weekend.

This week we celebrate National School Social Work Week and School Social Worker Appreciation. Our LTHS Social Workers play a vital role within our school community. Our LTHS School Social Workers work closely with many students/families in support of our students. I encourage those students/families that have worked with our social workers to consider sending them an appreciative note this week as we recognize the amazing work they do in support of our students and our entire school community.

5Essentials Parent Survey

We would like your feedback through the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This online survey will help school and district staff understand parent/guardian perceptions regarding communication, school/family partnerships, and school culture and climate.

Individual participation and responses are confidential. If 20% or more of parents/guardians participate, aggregate results will be available to school staff for review and published online in the fall of 2024 with the annual Illinois Report Card. The results of this survey will be used to understand areas of strength, opportunities for growth, and to support the district’s Strategic Plan.

Please complete the survey for each LT student in your household at https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/. The survey window closes on Friday, March 29, 2024.

Thank you for your continued support as we strive to support all students.

Say Something Week

Say Something week is March 4-8 at LT. The Say Something program teaches students how to look for warning signs and signals from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others, and to Say Something to a trusted adult to get them help. The Say Something program was developed by the Sandy Hook Promise organization, and the Say Something call to action week will take place at high schools throughout the country in March.

During the week, LT SAVE Promise Club (students against violence everywhere) will have a variety of Say Something activities, giveaways and valuable information including:

  • Monday- Say Something Trusted Adult signs will be available to teachers to put in their classrooms. The signs encourage students to say something to a trusted adult to help create a safer, healthier school. Say Something signs will be available for teachers to pick up in the mailroom at SC and the main office at NC.
  • Tuesday- Students and Staff can sign the Say Something pledge banner available in the main entrance of both campuses before school. We will also be giving away special Say Something wristbands to everyone who signs the pledge banner.
  • Wednesday- Say Something informational videos will play in cafes during all lunch periods.
  • Thursday- Students and staff can sign the Say Something pledge banner available in the main entrance of both campuses before school. We will also be giving away special Say Something wristbands for everyone who signs the pledge banner.
  • Friday- Wear Green Day. Support SAVE Promise Club and Sandy Hook Promise by wearing green!

Also, we encourage parents/guardians to review this Say Something Parent Guide
