The Morning Star Weekly Newsletter Vol 5, Edition 27 3/2/2021
Dear Morning Star Families and Friends,

Exciting news....our new school "Class Dojo” point store is now moving from classroom to classroom for students to redeem their Class Dojo points. As part of our school wide behavior plan, students from primary through high school earn dojo points throughout the day for following the three school wide principals-Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Prepared. Students can earn points for positive school behavior such as treating teachers and classmates with appropriate words and actions, staying on task and following teacher's directions, and having materials so they are ready for learning.

The store is full of rewards for all ages. Pencils, scratch and sniff stickers, and scented play dough are some of the favorites with the younger students. Chips, snacks and drinks are favorites with the older students. In addition to the tangible items, students may trade their points in for coupons. Coupons may be used for breaks to draw, play, or be on the iPad, and for friend lunches or time to hang out with one of our coaches. Students can earn a coupon for special 15-minute recess with Mrs. Binder once a week or a trip to my office to say hi and choose a sweet treat. One of my favorite coupons is worth a lot of points, but students have the opportunity to earn 10 extra recess minutes for their entire class. We call this the 'recess hero' coupon.

Our new Class Dojo store is one way we are encouraging appropriate school behavior. As a school community, we know the importance of teaching and encouraging students to reach their full potential not only academically but behaviorally as well.

Way to go students. Keep earning your points!

A HUGE thank you to our SPONSORS so far...
Walsh Investment Consulting, J-Tech Institute, Nimnicht Buick GMC, Parliment Family Foundation and Auld & White Constructors

Please help us find Sponsors! We need a Putting Contest sponsor, a Dinner sponsor, a Golf Ball sponsor and a Cigar Lounge Sponsor.
Games and Silent auctions are a great way to maximize revenue for our school. And no event would be complete without fun prizes and a few tables filled with exciting auction packages. Items such as travel/dining experiences, sporting event tickets, beauty and spa certificates, sports memorabilia, music and entertainment venues, family outings, technology, gift baskets, jewelry and high-end items are just a few ideas. And of course, monetary donations are always appreciated. No item is too small or too large. We will put anything you provide to good use.
In addition to items your family donates, please ask the businesses you frequent to also help out. Click HERE to print a “Community Partner” letter that you may use when speaking to a business. Please make sure to also complete a donation form so we can thank you (and others) properly. Click HERE to print the donation form.
To discuss sponsor packages, prize donations or other ways you can help, please contact Maria Johnson, Director of Development, at (904) 962-5080 or
Our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Militante, came up with a very creative way to teach students our mission statement. She taught them to use body percussion as they recited the MSS mission statement (below). Ask your students to perform it for you at home!

Sister Elise and Sister Rea were ready and dressed for Dr. Suess's birthday celebration. Sister Rea Wurmnest is a Sister of St. Joseph. She taught at St. Pius School for many years and later at Guardian Catholic School. She lives with Sister Elise at St. Joseph Convent. Sister Rea has been teaching math at Morning Star School to students in our Intermediate 1 class since January. Welcome Sister Rea, and thank you!
Students dipped yarn in glue and wrapped it around a small bowl to make a bird’s nest. Clay and feathers were used to make a little bird. Happy spring!
Sebastian is looking forward to St. Patrick’s Day!
