Important Calendar Reminder - Wednesday, March 13

This Wednesday, March 13 is not a late start. Wednesday is an early release day. The school day will start at 7:45 am on Wednesday and the school day will end at 11:30 am.

South Campus will follow a traditional early release bell schedule and students will attend all classes on Wednesday. It will be an “A” schedule day at South Campus. This means that teachers and students report to their 4A location during the shortened 4th period or their 5A location during the shortened 5th period. (For example, if a student has lunch study during 4A & lunch during 4B, the student would go to their lunch study.) As a reminder, South Campus students will not commute during 1st or 8th period. They should report to the South Campus library for that period.

At North Campus, juniors will take the Illinois Science Assessment while seniors will have a non-attendance day.

Information about the Illinois Science Assessment for Juniors:

Juniors should check their email for more information. The test will begin at 7:45 am on March 13, 2024 and room locations can be found in Infinite Campus at the bottom of your class schedule. Testing rooms will not be posted the morning of the test so you must check Infinite Campus. The Science Assessment is taken online so be sure to bring your Chromebook fully charged, pen or pencil for scratch work, and a non-science paper book to read if you finish early. Leave your cellphones, smart watches, and personal electronics at home or in your locker. If you have any questions, please stop by NC Room 45.

Freshman Preparedness Survey

For several years, Lyons Township High School has partnered with our associate schools to administer a Freshman Preparedness Survey. -On March 13, all current LT freshmen will be asked to take a short survey during their PE class.

The goal of this survey is to gather feedback from current LT freshmen about their perceptions on how well they were prepared for high school during their middle school/junior high years.

The survey should take students about 15 minutes to complete. Respondents will be asked to rank many of their middle school/junior high experiences from poor to great on a four point scale. Students will also be asked a series of open ended questions.

All responses are anonymous and completed surveys will be routed to the elementary school district identified by the respondent in the survey. All parents/guardians had an opportunity to opt students out of this survey during online registration. All students who have been opted out will work on other work while their peers complete the survey. If you have any questions regarding this survey, please contact Kristine Zieman, Coordinator of Assessment.

We would like your feedback through the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This online survey will help school and district staff understand parent/guardian perceptions regarding communication, school/family partnerships, and school culture and climate.

Individual participation and responses are confidential. If 20% or more of parents/guardians participate, aggregate results will be available to school staff for review and published online in the fall of 2024 with the annual Illinois Report Card. The results of this survey will be used to understand areas of strength, opportunities for growth, and to support the district’s Strategic Plan.
