Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the disease and support those impacted by it. Annual mammograms and other preventive services recommended by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration are covered without cost-sharing by HMAA when rendered by a participating provider for members age 40+; or any age if you, your mother or sister have a history of breast cancer.

National Breast Cancer Foundation recommends “a physical every year which should include a clinical breast exam and pelvic exam. If any unusual symptoms or changes in your breasts occur before your scheduled visit, do not hesitate to contact your doctor.”
