Rochester, NY–June 21, 2024–The CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival starts today at 20 indoor and open-air venues in downtown Rochester, NY. The Festival's 21st Edition will present 326 shows including 100+ free shows and events over nine days through June 29. More than 1750 artists will come to play from 16 countries. | |

Blues Legend Taj Mahal Headlines Tonight at 8 PM
Taj Mahal is a towering musical figure – a legend who transcended the blues not by leaving them behind but by revealing their magnificent scope to the world. “The blues is bigger than most people think,” he says. “You could hear Mozart play the blues. It might be more like a lament. It might be more melancholy. But I’m going to tell you: the blues is in there.” If anyone knows where to find the blues, it’s Taj. A brilliant artist with a musicologist’s mind, he has pursued and elevated the roots of beloved sounds with boundless devotion and skill. No one is as simultaneously traditional and avant-garde. Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi Hendrix
World-renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan has developed a new live show called “Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi.” This is a tribute show, but it’s not pure imitation. Instead Stanley builds on Jimi’s legacy in a creative way. As Stanley explains it, “This is my fantasy Jimi Hendrix concert if Jimi were still alive and playing today.
