This is just one of the ways the Council and its members were able to G.I.V.E. (Gift, Impact, Value, and Elements) in 2021.
GIFT. The Gift that keeps giving is our first doubleheader, 3 New Board Members along with 3 Annual Bronze Resource Partners. The Council’s Board of Directors along with our Resource Partners are dedicated to creating opportunities for small HUBZone businesses in low-income areas by helping entrepreneurs access the Federal marketplace while increasing the skilled workforce in these underutilized communities.
IMPACT. Every Fall, the Council’s voting members have the opportunity to elect new Directors to the Board. The candidates are passionate about expanding our organization’s influence locally, nationally, and globally. This year we are excited to add the following three new members to the HUBZone Contractors National Council’s Board of Directors:
  • Mark Evans, CEO, Bubo Learning Design, LLC – a learning design expert with over 20 years of experience in the industry. He brings high-quality learning know-how from conception to content and from production to delivery and deployment.
  • Matt Schoonover, Schoonover & Moriarty – counsels clients on all aspects of their work with the federal government—from understanding acquisition regulations to contracting provisions that help small businesses succeed in the federal marketplace.
  • Ann Sullivan, Madison Services Group, Inc. – 40 years of Congressional government relations experience. She specializes in the small business, entrepreneurial and government contracting sectors including business development, government procurement, healthcare, export development, and tax issues.

Our 3 Annual Bronze Resource Partners provided legal (PilieroMazza, Schoonover & Moriarty) and acquisition support (GovContractPros) to the Board of Directors and Council members. They have served as trusted partners particularly helping us navigate through the COVID landmines that severely impacted HUBZone businesses and their workforce.
VALUE. These Annual Bronze Resource Partners were able to efficiently share their subject matter expertise along with their financial support to the HUBZone Council and its stakeholders.
  • GovContractPros assembled a high-caliber team of experienced business experts and specialists to provide advisory services to small business contractors and improve their competitiveness in the federal marketplace.
  • PilieroMazza served as a trusted legal advisor by putting members' needs and goals at the center of business solutions through accessibility, honesty, innovation, and unparalleled advocacy.
3 — Annual Bronze Resource Partners
  • Schoonover & Moriarty assisted clients with all legal aspects associated with selling goods and services to the federal government. That includes all federal contracting programs, size and affiliation concerns, various teaming methods, bid protests, size and status protests, requests for equitable adjustment, claims, and appeals.
ELEMENT. The Directors and the Bronze Resource Partners work as a high-performance team seamlessly advocating for the federal government to honor their commitment to the HUBZone program. The HUBZone program which was enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997 has failed to meet its established federal goals to promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing access to more federal contracting opportunities.

The Council believes that it will take a change in acquisition philosophy to meet the federal established goals and truly make an impact within these underserved communities, but to do that, we need your HELP to push our federal decision-makers further.
