CTSA KL2 Virtual Visiting Scholars Grand Rounds:

“Optimizing Medicaid Managed Care to Improve Access, Quality,

and Clinical Outcomes for Patients with Gastrointestinal Cancers.”

Jun. 18, 2024 | 12– 1pm

Lecturer: Aaron J. Dawes, MD, PhD, FACS, FASCRS

Assistant Professor, Colon and Rectal Surgery

Stanford University School of Medicine

Dr. Dawes is a colorectal surgeon and health services researcher who is passionate about improving cancer treatment and clinical outcomes for the most vulnerable patients.

His clinical expertise and earlier studies have sparked a significant interest in understanding how health-care system design influences cancer treatment delivery. He treats patients with colon, rectal, and anal malignancies on

a regular basis as part of a busy clinical practice at an NCI-Designated Cancer Center.

Dr. Dawes' firsthand experience as a caregiver allowed him to empathize with some of his patients struggling to access care, in part owing to difficulty navigating the Medicaid system, which is becoming increasingly complex and restrictive over time.

Please join the BU CTSI for the 2024 KL2 Virtual Visiting Scholars Grand Rounds, which aim to improve patient access and clinical outcomes.
