2024 Mill & Overlay and Smithtown Road Drainage Improvements Project

The 2024 Mill & Overlay and the Smithtown Road Drainage Improvements Project is identified in the Capital Improvement Plan (PDF) for maintaining and extending the longevity of the existing roadway infrastructure throughout the city.

Construction activities for this project will begin on Monday, May 13. This start date is weather dependent.


The project will be performed in phases, with work on the mill and overlay streets being performed first. All work on the first phase of streets will be completed before work on the next phase begins. The first phase includes the following streets:

  • Chestnut Court
  • Maple Street
  • Oak View Court
  • Whitney Circle


Project Information

  • The construction process includes but is not limited to: spot curb repairs, bituminous milling and paving, ditch grading, storm sewer repairs and improvements, and restoration.
  • Construction working hours are 7 AM - 7 PM.
  • All roads under construction will be open to local traffic only. 
  • There will be days where street parking will not be available. The Resident Project Representative will inform you of these dates as they arise.
  • Please watch small children and animals carefully around all construction activities.
