2024 Mill & Overlay and Smithtown Road Drainage Improvements Project

The 2024 Mill & Overlay and the Smithtown Road Drainage Improvements Project is identified in the Capital Improvement Plan (PDF) for maintaining and extending the longevity of the existing roadway infrastructure throughout the city.

The construction schedule for the week of June 3rd is as follows for Phase 1 Streets (Whitney Circle, Chestnut Court, Maple Street, Bracketts Road and Oakview Court):

• June 3: Mainline bituminous level course patching, weather pending. This involves paving a thin layer of asphalt over the existing pavement in certain areas to improve surface irregularities or lack of an existing pavement section.
• June 4: No construction work.
• June 5: No construction work.
• June 6 & 7: Mainline bituminous paving begins at 12 pm on June 6. The Phase 1 Streets will be paved in the following order: Whitney Circle, Chestnut Court, Bracketts Road, Oakview Court, Maple Street. Please avoid street parking in order for construction activities to take place. There will be limited driveway access. If rain delays occur, this work will be performed the week of June 10th.

Concrete curb repairs, sanitary and storm sewer casting adjustments, irrigation/dog fence repairs, driveway paving, and seeding have been completed for Phase 1 Streets.

Project Information

• Construction working hours are 7 AM - 7 PM.
• All roads under construction will be open to local traffic only. 
• There will be days where street parking will not be available. The Resident Project Representative will inform you of these dates as they arise.
• Please watch small children and animals carefully around all construction activities.
