2024 Mill & Overlay and Smithtown Road Drainage Improvements Project

The 2024 Mill & Overlay and the Smithtown Road Drainage Improvements Project is identified in the Capital Improvement Plan (PDF) for maintaining and extending the longevity of the existing roadway infrastructure throughout the city.

Due to recent rain events, construction activities have been delayed for Phase 1 Streets. The construction schedule for the end of this week and the week of May 27th is as follows for Phase 1 Streets (Whitney Circle, Chestnut Court, Maple Street, Bracketts Road and Oakview Court):

• May 23-24: Topsoil backfill and seeding behind curb areas, weather pending. 
• May 27: Holiday - No construction work.
• May 29: Bituminous milling for Phase 1 Streets. Avoid street parking on this day in order for construction activities to take place. There may be times when you have to wait for construction personnel to move equipment to access your driveway/the roadway. If rain delays occur, this work will be performed the following day.
• May 30-31: Topsoil backfill and seeding behind curb areas and landscape restoration.
• May 28-31: Centerpoint Energy plans to be performing service replacements along Lilac Lane from May 28 through May 31. This work is being performed on behalf of Centerpoint and is not affiliated with the 2024 Mill and Overlay Project work.

Mainline bituminous paving for Phase 1 Streets is scheduled for the week of June 3rd. More details will be provided as the date approaches.

Project Information

• Construction working hours are 7 AM - 7 PM.
• All roads under construction will be open to local traffic only. 
• There will be days where street parking will not be available. The Resident Project Representative will inform you of these dates as they arise.
• Please watch small children and animals carefully around all construction activities.
