A Message To Friends Of The Edmonton Jazz Festival Society

SPECIAL COLLABORATION & EDMONTON ARTISTS ANNOUNCED

Jazz Appreciation Month continues with more festival announcements, including details on a special performance initiative with long-standing festival partner the Winspear Centre, as well as a look at some of the talented Edmonton artists performing at this year's summer Festival.

The jazz festival is a great way to hear new and familiar acts but it can also be a great place to share your skills and meet new people. If you are interested in being a part of the 2024 volunteer team, we'd love to hear from you.

The last of our ticketed events are now available. More Edmonton artists and free programming still to be announced but our full roster of ticketed concerts has now been revealed.

Edmonton Jazz Orchestra Meets Edmonton Symphony Orchestra

In a ground-breaking event closing out the Festival, The Edmonton Jazz Orchestra, Edmonton’s premiere professional big band, will share the stage with members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the Winspear Centre.

This Sunday afternoon matinee concert will feature some of Edmonton’s best jazz and classical artists and Edmonton’s finest aspiring young jazz musicians, playing arrangements of well-known tunes that festivalgoers and music-lovers have come to love and enjoy, including songs made famous by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra plus many more.

This one-of-a-kind concert experience will highlight the rich talent and spirit of collaboration that is thriving in the Edmonton's arts community, celebrating an all-Edmonton lineup of musicians.

For only $5, kids ages 3-12 get to experience the concert along with

Jazz for Kids, an interactive, engaging, educational performance in the Winspear lobby, one hour prior to the show.

A hip hop artist on the rise with magnetic energy, bringing bold lyricism and colossal beats to the stage alongside his live band.

LYRICIST LOUNGE HOSTED BY K-RIZ

A special Jazz Festival initiative delivering a genre-fused event of jazz-influenced Hip Hop through live instrumentation and lyricism. With performances by Edmonton’s own hip hop and R&B dynamo K-Riz and his special guests Tea Fannie and Kazmega.

A jazz-rooted collective which traverses diverse landscapes by combining music and poetry. You may recognize their members from Free Golf Clubs, ToneArt, Whiling, or the Evergreen Trio.

Volunteer applications are currently being accepted for those interested in being a part of the 2024 Festival team. The festival will take place from June 25 to June 30 at various locations in Edmonton. Volunteers will be placed according to availability, skills, experience, and operational requirements.
