As Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) continues we are excited to share more Festival announcements including events at a new venue for 2024, McDougall United Church, and some photos of legendary artists you may or may not know of.


2024 EDMONTON INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL Presented by TD Ready Commitment

The roll out of artists from this summer's Festival continues. Tickets for visiting artists performing at the Yardbird Suite, Starlite Room, and McDougall United Church are available now at early bird prices,

Ontario-based world music singer, and daughter of legendary South African Jazz singer Thandie Klaasen, is one of the few South African artists preserving the classic sound of 'Township Music', which continues to be the most distinctive sound to come out of South Africa.

AVATAAR’s music is inspired by the deep musical traditions of India, Africa and Brazil, rooted within the framework of modern jazz. In an innovative marriage of ancient and modern, driving grooves intersect with cinematic atmospheres and soaring melodies, creating a fresh, emotive sonic experience.


MONEKA ARABIC JAZZ draws from bandleader Ahmed Moneka’s Afro-Arabic heritage and influences along with Toronto’s own multicultural mix to create a distinct, funky, and unique sound. The septet seamlessly fuses jazz and blues with the style of Arabic music known as Maqam, as well as with choice African grooves and rhythms.

Konrad uses his innovative and distinct drumming style to unite collagelike compositions of hip-hop fantasias and spiritual jazz a lá Alice Coltrane with a framework inspired by the minimalism of Terry Riley and Moondogs.
