Summer 2024 Chairman’s Internship Opportunity!
Chairman Jeffrey C. McKay is accepting applications for a paid summer internship. Fairfax County residency is recommended.
The intern will assist with a variety of projects, assignments, and public service activities, which may include:
- Assisting county residents with solving problems and sharing the views of Chairman McKay.
- Drafting letters and constituent correspondences.
- Updating lists, such as homeowner association (HOA) contacts.
- Assisting with updating public websites.
- Researching local small businesses, plan, and outreach to advertise summer events.
- Route phone calls and issues to appropriate staff member.
- The intern should be interested in learning about local government and is able to work independently and with a team.
Preferred skills include:
- Familiarity with Fairfax County
- Effective writing and verbal communications
- Researching and reporting results
- Technical skills such as: Excel, Microsoft Word, Canva, and databases
The intern will be expected to work 30 hours/week, with weekly schedules negotiable. Chairman’s Office operating hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
Start and end dates are negotiable but will generally track with the student’s summer break or summer semester calendar.
