Stay Hydrated in the Office and this Summer

Summer days are heating up. Maintaining proper hydration is essential for staying alert and energized throughout your workday. Even mild dehydration—as little as 2% fluid loss—can affect memory, mood, concentration and reaction time. Adding just a few glasses of water to your daily intake can have a positive effect on cognition, stabilize your emotions and even combat feelings of anxiety.

If you find it challenging to increase your water intake at work, consider these practical tips:

  1. Invest in a Reusable Water Bottle: Bring a refillable water bottle to work each day and top it up as needed.
  2. Enhance Flavor: If you prefer more flavorful beverages, use a fruit infuser bottle to add a hint of your favorite fruits to your water.
  3. Set Hydration Goals: Use your water bottle to set consumption goals. For instance, mark the halfway point and aim to reach it by noon.
  4. Use Reminders: Utilize fitness trackers to set hydration reminders or set alarms on your phone or computer to prompt you to drink water regularly.
