Hello New and Returning AHS Students and Families,

This email provides instructions on how to complete the following two important tasks that will help us create student schedules for next year:

• Request Electives for the 2024/25 academic year
• Request an Osprey Block for Fall 2024

To Request Electives in Infinite Campus:

FOR NEW STUDENTS: If you were unable to attend our academic advising session for new/incoming families that took place on April 10th, please refer to this follow up email that summarizes the important information that was covered during that meeting. This will help you review elective choices and determine which classes your student wants to request for each elective period.

FOR CURRENT STUDENTS: If you were absent from class when we did this together, follow the directions below using your student portal in Infinite Campus.

Remember, core classes are decided for each student and will take place during designated class periods. Please refer to the following templates for information on what periods are open for electives in each grade level:

Use the Elective Choices and Schedule spreadsheet for information on which elective classes are offered during each period.

To request an Osprey Block for Fall 2024:

Osprey Blocks are three-week long courses at AHS designed to engage students through academically rigorous, cross-disciplinary, immersive studies that connect classroom learning to powerful, real-world experiences. The world becomes our classroom, and Osprey Block classes take advantage of the shift in our schedule by engaging in more frequent off-campus excursions and activities, including wilderness-based expeditions and travel. Osprey Blocks are team-taught, and students receive .5 academic credit upon successful completion, as they do for semester-long elective courses. Regular classes do not meet during Osprey Blocks. For the 2024/25 school year, Osprey Blocks will take place September 17 through October 3.

Please take time at home to review the Fall 2024 Osprey Blocks, including short videos created by AHS Quill Media, so that students are making thoughtful decisions when submitting their top choices. Videos are also housed on this YouTube playlist and Osprey Block descriptions are included in the 2024/25 Course Catalog.

Use the link below to indicate your top choices for Fall 2024 Osprey Blocks. Please make your requests prior to May 10th. Students will be notified of their Osprey Block placement by May 17th.

Incoming 10th, 11th, & 12th Graders: Schedule an Advising Appointment

If you have an incoming 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student, you are encouraged to schedule an appointment to meet with Erin to get help determining which elective courses are appropriate and in alignment with their postsecondary goals.
