THE ROOKIE RUMBLE EXPERIENCE

The Michigan Rookie Rumble is an amazing experience for all that can be a part of it. It's perfect for first time competitors to be around others like themselves. It also is a favorite for more experienced lifters to watch and volunteer in, because they remember how welcomed they were at their first Rookie Rumble, and want to welcome you into the family!

Since we know this is a first meet for ALL of you, we put together a First Meet Tips page on our website. Take a look to know what to expect on Saturday.

FIRST MEET TIPS

SCHEDULE

6:30am - Doors Open for Check-In

6:30-8:30am – Equipment Check & Rack Heights

7:00-8:30am – Weigh-Ins

(In order by Lot Number)

8:30am – MANDATORY Rules Meeting

9:00am – Lifting Begins

4:00pm - Awards Ceremony

YOU MUST ASK THE MEET DIRECTOR FOR PERMISSION TO LEAVE BEFORE AWARDS. PLEASE STAY FOR AWARDS IF YOU CAN. We will ask you to pay for shipping if you request your medal to be mailed. If you do request this, please keep in mind that mailing awards is not a top priority immediately following a meet, and may take some time. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Weigh-Ins begin promptly at 7:00am and will be done in order by Lot Number. Have your ID and 1st attempts in kilograms ready. If you are not present when your name is called, you will be called again after all other athletes have weighed in.

Rack Heights are important! We will help you find the correct rack height for squat & bench press (with foot blocks if necessary) so you are comfortable on the platform.

Equipment Check is imperative. We need to see everything you'll be wearing on the platform.

BE PREPARED. LEARN THE RULES.

READ THE RULEBOOK.

Don't forget your absolute necessities. You need a singlet, t-shirt, and knee high socks for deadlift. You may also use wrist wraps, a belt, and knee sleeves. Respond to this email if you have any questions about your equipment... AFTER you consult the rulebook.

This may be your very first time stepping on a USA Powerlifting platform. Even if it is not, you need to be prepared. If you think you know all of the USA Powerlifting rules... you don't. As an athlete, it is your responsibility to learn the technical rules of competition and ensure that your equipment is approved. This also includes following anti-doping/drug testing guidelines. Rules & By-Laws and Drug Testing information can be accessed at usapowerlifting.com.

We drug test 10% of our athletes by urinalysis. If you need to leave early or you need to skip the award ceremony, please do not do so without checking in with myself (Gina Galarza).

It is also a great idea to stay hydrated (hint!) so we can start the award ceremony as soon as possible!
