Representing Our Parish in D.C.

St. Tammany Parish was well-represented last week by nearly 50 people at Washington Mardi Gras. Since 1944, this annual event has brought elected officials, business and civic leaders together to collaborate, network and celebrate our culture. Among the many events in the five days of gatherings were not only balls and business and parish sponsored suites/receptions but also a gathering of representatives from 10 chambers of commerce for a briefing on federal issues at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Annual Economic Development luncheon hosted by chambers of commerce from across the state. Newly elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made an appearance and briefly spoke, as did each of our Louisiana congressmen. Gayle Benson was the keynote speaker.
