Bess Garner Preservation Award Cultural Heritage Award

2023 Bess Garner Preservation Award will go to Claremont Graduate University for their outstanding stewardship of the built environment. The adaptive reuse of the former Huntley Bookstore, (Now the Yuhaaviatam Center for Health Studies) designed by A. Quincy Jones, has been sensitively renovated, retaining key character defining features.

Also celebrated is the Peter Drucker House. Put on the National Register of Historic Places and now an interpretive house museum honoring Drucker's legacy.

2023 Cultural Heritage Award will be presented to the Scripps Fine Arts Foundation, established in 1935 by Millard Sheets, for their many decades of programs and events that celebrate Claremont artists and makers.

The purpose of the Scripps Fine Arts Foundation is to stimulate public interest in art, to develop greater opportunities for the study of art at Scripps College and to benefit the local art community. FAF hosts a series of monthly public programs, September through May.
