Ontario Snowboard is pleased to announce our acceptance into the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario's OHPSI program.


The Ontario High-Performance Sport Initiative or OHPSI program was designed to support a comprehensive provincial high-performance sport system that allows for the sustained success of athletes and coaches at the very highest levels of international sport.


The goal of the OHPSI program is to identify and support Ontario athletes who are best capable of achieving future international success on senior national teams in targeted winter and summer Olympic/Paralympic sports.

2023-2024 Ontario Snowboard HPP OHSPI Testing Weekend

 

The 2023-2024 Provincial and Development Team's first CSIO OHPSI Testing Camp will include fitness testing, concussion baseline testing, functional movement screening, mental performance and nutrition seminars.


WHEN: November 10th-12th, 2023

WHERE: Canadian Sport Institute Ontario - Toronto Pan Am Centre

What is Snow Athletes Canada?

Snow Athletes Canada is a Federally Incorporated Not– For-Profit corporation and Canadian Registered Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA). SAC is operated by John Curtis, a lawyer and sailing Olympian (Athens 2004) who has been operating www.windathletes.ca for 15 years and has raised over $20 million for sailing athletes pursuing excellence in that sport.


Athlete Eligibility and Registration Process

Athletes formally named to a National Team Program (including NextGen) are eligible.

Athletes formally named to a Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations Team Program are eligible.

What does Snow Athletes Canada Do to Support Athletes?

The primary activity of Snow Athletes Canada (SAC) will be to receive tax deductible donations from members of the Canadian public and to use these funds to support athletes competing in the FIS governed sports, to cover the expenses of training and competitions.

This could include things like team fees, travel, gym memberships, coaching, equipment etc. Athletes only receive money as a reimbursement for legitimate expenses incurred while training and competing.

There is no cost to SAC Athletes.

Provincial & Development Team Selection Criteria

 

Acceptance into the OHPSI program has led to an increased sophistication of the Ontario Snowboard HPP and changes to the athlete obligations and services provided. Team fees and athlete benefits are still being finalized and will be available to selected athletes by the team deadline of October 2nd, 2023.
