The International Pattern Committee of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) today published the International Ratings for 2022.

It was no surprise to see the Qatari owned, French bred and trained, Lady Princess on top on 127, based on her superb length and a quarter win over Ebraz in the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1PA) at ParisLongchamp in October. Ebraz himself, who retired to stud after the race, is second highest rated on 125. The late lamented Hattal earned 123 for his second place to Lady Princess in the Qatar International Stakes (Gr1PA) at Goodwood in July, whilst First Class, who was fifth in the World Cup and at Goodwood, earned 122 for his three quarters of a length second place to Teema in the Qatar Cup - Prix Dragon (Gr1PA) in September.

Soko (Doha Cup-Prix Manganate), Djafar (Qatar Arabian World Cup) and Hadi De Carrere (Qatar Cup - Prix Dragon) are all on 121, whilst Samlla (Qatar Derby des Pur-Sang Arabes) and Abbes (Doha Cup – Prix Manganate) are on 120.

First Class has since gone on to win the Jewel Crown (Gr1PA) in Abu Dhabi in December, beating Lady Princess, then finished fourth to Abbes in the HH The Amir Sword (Gr1PA) in February and was a gallant third in the Dubai Kahayla Classic (Gr1PA) last week.

The top-rated UK horse was Ekleel Athbah, rated 109 for her second place in the UAE President Cup (Gr3PA) at Baden Baden in September. She went on to finish in the prize money when sixth in the Al Mneefah Cup (Gr2PA) at the Saudi Cup Festival in February.

In the juvenile category, Al Ghadeer heads the list on 120, for his performance in the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains (Gr1PA) at Saint-Cloud in September, where he beat Madrassa (116) by two lengths. Joe Star, who was third, is on 113 for his win in the Royal Cavalry of Oman – Prix Tidjani (Gr3PA) where he beat Al Ghadeer on their respective debuts. A solid race with Ska de L’Aigle (106) in third, Joe Star has since won twice in the UAE, including Round 2 of the Arabian Triple Crown (Gr3PA). Ska de l’Aigle has won the HH The Amir Silver Sword in Qatar last month and Al Ghadeer, following a similar trajectory to stablemate Moshrif, won the Qatar Arabian Derby (Gr3PA) for three-year-olds in December.

Nour Al Maury is the top-rated filly on 114 for her win in the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches (Gr1PA) on the same card at Saint-Cloud, with the second, Mezown on 112. The third and fourth, No Tear Al Maury and Al Doha are rated 109.
