Retirement Celebration At Kappler
PHILIP MANN TAKES A DAY OFF AND CALLS IT RETIRED
Long-time Kappler Technical Director Philip Mann has retired from the company, officially at least — he reports thoroughly enjoying cashing his first social security check. But Philip will still be a familiar face around campus on a reduced schedule to support certain projects. He was recognized at a special luncheon in December, which included a roast by numerous colleagues who have worked with Philip over his 32-year history with the company. Among other things the audience was reminded of Philips’s dual passion for beer and milk (not at the same time), with many friendly jabs mixed with appreciation for his significant contributions to Kappler. Besides being the braintrust behind Kappler’s HazMatch® suit selection guide, Philip has been a critical driver of making Kappler THE technical education leader in the protective apparel industry. Many roasters spoke about his extensive technical knowledge, and the ability to share the knowledge in common-sense terms. A heartfelt thanks and congrats to Philip as he enjoys a more relaxed schedule of helping protect people.
Kappler University
DATES FOR KU TRAINING ANNOUNCED FOR 2022

After losing a full year in 2020 and a limited schedule last year, Kappler University is on track for a regular slate of four sessions for 2022. The sessions in ’21 provided a great opportunity to fine-tune the KU experience in Kappler’s new Technology & Training Center. In fact the facility worked great, with very little fine-tuning required, so we are ready to be back full-force with the industry’s best classroom and hands-on education experience. The Thursday-Friday format will continue for '22, and the dates are:
  • May 12-13
  • June 16-17
  • August 18-19
  • September 15-16

Christmas Coalition Toy Drive
KAPPLER SETS RECORD TO HELP LOCAL FAMILIES

Each year, Kappler manufacturing employees raise funds to support Marshall County Christmas Coalition with raffles, donations, bake sales and luncheons. Christmas Coalition provides assistance to hundreds of families each year so that more children can experience the magic of Christmas. It takes many generous hearts to make this happen, and Kappler's employees are among those people. 2021 was a record-breaking year as Kappler’s manufacturing crew raised over $1,000 for this great program. Many thanks to Christmas Coalition for supporting the children of our community, and thanks to our very generous employees for helping make this program possible.
Durachem Goes To Work in PA
LANCASTER COUNTY, PA AND HAZMAT 2 LAND ON DURACHEM® 200
HazMat 2 Environmental Fire Rescue Company is a team of highly-skilled volunteers who protect Lancaster County, Pennsylvania against the effects of a hazardous materials release. After a year of extensive testing and evaluation, HazMat 2 selected Kappler’s multi-hazard DuraChem 200 ensembles for its PPE line-up. Kappler distributor Safeware, Inc. and the Lancaster EMA were involved in the process, and HazMat 2 offered a big thank-you and shout-out to all for "helping us get these great looking, mutil-wear, single-exposure, NFPA certified ensembles!” Navy blue DuraChem 200 garments have proven to be a big winner for fire department emergency response situations that previously required expensive traditional turnout gear. We appreciate the support of HazMat 2 in letting folks know about this unique new product.

Thanks to Jeff’s overall efforts and especially his success with our new DuraChem products, he was named Leader Of The Pack and King of New Products for his sales achievements in 2021. Thank you Jeff, for your hard work and dedication to Keeping Bad Stuff Off People!
Thanksgiving Luncheon
SHAREHOLDERS LUNCHEON A GOOD REMINDER OF ALL TO BE THANKFUL FOR

Kappler continued a nice tradition when employees gathered for our combined annual shareholders meeting and Thanksgiving luncheon. As an ESOP company, Kappler likes to remind employees that we all have the opportunity — and responsibility — to contribute to the company’s success. By keeping a sharp eye for areas where we can improve performance, everyone plays an important role. The annual Thanksgiving luncheon is always a good chance to remember that we are blessed with a great teamwork spirit at Kappler.

MAKING MANUFACTURING
RELEVANT TO THE NEXT
WORKFORCE GENERATION
For several years Kappler has participated in “Manufacturing Day”, an event sponsored by the Marshall County Economic Development Council. The goal is for area businesses to meet face-to-face with their future workforce, and expose them to some of the great career opportunities right here in Marshall County. As a manufacturer, Kappler is always excited about the chance to educate young folks about the many career paths available that involve making things. This year the overall program included 400 students and 13 manufacturing companies across the county. Kappler hosted students from Boaz, DAR and Brindlee Mountain High School, with a campus tour and overview of the many different jobs involved in the technology, design and production of protective clothing. We enjoyed having the students on campus and hope they left feeling inspired for the future!
