We're three weeks out from the 2021 Agents & Editors Conference and we're so excited for what's in store. This is the second in a series of conference mailers that will help you prepare for the big weekend.
In this mailer you'll find:
- Information on the pre-conference Virtual Orientation Session (whether you're attending the in-person event or the virtual all-access, we hope you'll join us for this session)
- An invitation to a special live stream tomorrow evening on "The Path to Publication"
- A link to our current COVID guidelines for in-person attendees
- A reminder to fill out your consultations preference form
- A reminder to RSVP for the Saturday Keynote Luncheon if you're attending in-person
- A reminder to reserve your hotel room if you're attending in-person

With both in-person and virtual registrants, a week of pre-conference live webinars, and some very important COVID guidelines to keep us all safe, this conference is like no other in our twenty-eight years of hosting this special event. We want to make sure you are as prepared as possible - and we want to answer as many of your questions as we can before the fun kicks off.

While it's not officially part of our conference program, we wanted to make sure you were aware of the special event we're hosting tomorrow evening. Join us for a conversation with two industry experts – Beth deGuzman (VP, Digital and Paperback Publisher, Grand Central Publishing/ Hachette Book Group) and Monique Patterson (VP, Editorial Director, Acquisitions Outreach at the St. Martin’s Publishing Group) – as we discuss the ins and outs of publishing today.

We are asking all in-person conference registrants to please familiarize themselves with our COVID guidelines for the 2021 Agents & Editors Conference. These guidelines are mandatory and will be enforced throughout the conference. You can find everything you need to know by clicking the button below.
We can't stress this enough: The health and safety of all of our attendees (including registrants, invited guests, staff, and volunteers) will be our highest priority during the conference weekend. Our expectation is that anyone who attends in-person is aware of and prepared to follow these guidelines. If you are not able or willing to follow the guidelines, please contact us immediately so that we can transfer your registration to the Virtual All Access option.

All A&E Conference registrants - both in-person registrants and virtual registrants - are entitled to a complimentary consultation with an agent or editor.
Consultations are 10-minute one-on-one meetings, a great opportunity to verbally pitch your work to an industry professional. You will not be sharing material with these agents or editors ahead of time or during the meeting.
All consultations will take place during the conference weekend. If you are registered for the in-person event, you can opt to do your consultation in person or on Zoom. If you are a virtual registrant, your consultation must take place on Zoom. (PLEASE NOTE: Some of our agents and editors are doing virtual consultations only. They have been identified with (Virtual Only) on the preference form.)
Consultations will be assigned in the order in which completed consultation preference forms are received. If you have not filled out your preference form yet, we highly recommend that you fill out and submit the preference form as soon as possible in order to have the best chance of receiving an appointment with one of your top choices. Please make every effort to fill out the preference form by THIS Friday, September 3.
After Friday, September 3, we will be opening up consultations for purchase ($50 each) to all registrants who'd like to sign up for a second consultation. Details on how to purchase a second consultation will be shared at that time.
And if you opted for an in-person consultation, please keep in mind that you are required to show proof of full vaccination. You will be receiving an email from us tomorrow with instructions on how to proceeed.

Our 2021 A&E Conference includes notable literary agents who represent best-selling and award-winning authors and have sold books to big presses and indie presses alike, plus editors working at publishing houses that have published some of the most exciting books of the past few years.

If you're attending the 2021 A&E Conference in person, please let us know by Friday, September 3, if you'll be joining us for the Keynote Luncheon on Saturday, September 18. There is no extra charge for the luncheon, but we do need to get an accurate count to the conference venue as soon as possible. This is a plated luncheon with three courses, with a keynote address by author Courtney Maum (Before & After the Book Deal) to follow the entree course. Masks will be required except when at your seat and eating, so keep that in mind as you make your decision regarding whether you'd like to join us.

The conference venue, the Hyatt Regency Austin, has set aside a block of discounted rooms for A&E Conference registrants for dates before, during, and after the event. Rooms are filling quickly, so book now if you want to be assured a spot.
The cut-off date to register and receive the special group rate is September 6.
