Important updates in this weeks Tidbits
SSCS Reopening Plan 2020-21

Principal Points
Good Afternoon St. Stephen families,

The start of school is less than a month away but if you are following the news, you know that it could be delayed. Please be sure to read Tidbits for updates and I will email you important changes as they occur. I hope everyone took the opportunity to read the Reopening Plan that was emailed to you yesterday. If you are considering the Flexible Learning Plan as an option, please be sure to fill out the request form and return it to Mrs. Robles by August 1. Even if the start of school is delayed, we need to know your intention to participate in that program by Aug. 1.

The reopening plan talks about students wearing masks. There are no color or style requirements for the masks. Choose one that is comfortable and your child likes. We only ask that there be nothing inappropriate. Sports teams, patterns, designs, superheroes are all acceptable.

If you have looked at the school calendar recently, you will have noticed that many of the typical back-to-school events have been removed. We are not planning an Open House and Back-to-School night as in the past. Our plan is to have a virtual/digital back-to-school presentation from the teachers. It is also our plan to have this available prior to the start of school. We are also planning a virtual orientation for new families prior to the start of school.

Last week I listed all the teachers who will be here this year and I missed one of our very important teachers - Jamie Stencel, ESE Teacher. I apologize to everyone and yes, Mrs. Stencel will be returning to support our students.

While everything seems uncertain and we worry about our families, remember that we can find comfort our Lord. We all need to be praying together for a vaccine, a cure, or an end to this unprecedented time.

Peace and Blessings,

Linda Umoh

Act now to help Catholic schools and families!

Act now to help Catholic schools and families!
COVID-19 has meant many changes for all schools, including Catholic schools. It has also meant changes in income for many families.

Please join the Florida Catholic Conference of Bishops in asking Congress to include additional relief for Catholic schools in the next emergency relief package.

Public schools are asking for $300 billion dollars, and it is important to make sure that Catholic school families also receive emergency relief. Please take a moment to contact your Members of Congress to ask for emergency aid to Catholic schools and families in the next COVID-19 relief package. We are asking Congress for direct funding to families for education expenses, including Catholic school tuition.

We encourage you to add your own personal story about your Catholic school experience in the message as well.
