Congratulations to the 2019 All-America Cities! 
Each of the 2019 All-America City winning communities demonstrated civic engagement practices that are inspirational, inclusive and promising in their ability to unite communities to address some of our country's most challenging issues. This year's winners focused specifically on creating healthy communities through inclusive civic engagement.

Roanoke, VA Receives Inaugural Hall of Fame Award
Congratulations to the 2019 All-America City Hall of Fame winner, the City of Roanoke, VA. Roanoke is being recognized as the first winner of the Hall of Fame award for its continued work and advancement of the Star City Reads initiative, which has been expanded to allow any child to receive a free lunch and participate in literacy enrichment activities. 

Announcing 2020 Theme for  All-America City Awards
The 2020 All-America City Award theme will be enhancing health and well-being through civic engagement. 
With the League's Co-Title Sponsors, Kaiser Permanente and the Well Being Trust, the 2020 Awards will reflect the concept that good health for the entire community requires a focus on mental, physical, spiritual, cultural and economic well-being.

National Civic League's Anniversary Feature: 125 Examples of Civic Capital
In honor of the League's 125th Anniversary, we will be using our newsletter to highlight 125 community initiatives that use civic capital to solve problems and build equitable, thriving communities. These cities and counties have been recognized for engaging community members in collaborative efforts to address community problems. 

Thoughts from a Descendant of Theodore Roosevelt, One of the League's Founders
In honor of the National Civic League's 125th Anniversary, we are interviewing descendants of some of the League's founders. Mike McGrath, director of publications at the League, interviewed Kermit Roosevelt III, a great-great-grandson of Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt was one of the founders of the National Civic League back in 1894.
