As part of its 75th Anniversary celebration, IMRF recognized its "First Five" employers by presenting each with a custom shadowbox featuring commemorative items highlighting IMRF's past and future.
IMRF formally began operations in 1941 with five original, "First Five," employers, including: the City of Evanston, the City of Galesburg, the Village of Riverside, the City of Rockford, and the Rockford Park District.
Today, IMRF serves
2,972 local units of government across Illinois. The fund is the second-largest public pension plan in Illinois, and the 50th largest in the nation.
