One2016 Executive Trustee election voting authority
In November, IMRF employers will elect one Executive Trustee for a five-year term. The five-year term of office will run from January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2021.

All Authorized Agents, regardless of IMRF participation status, may submit a nominating petition and cast a ballot in an Executive Trustee election, provided they have been given authority by their governing body.

If an Authorized Agent does not have voting authority indicated on the Notice of Appointment of Authorized Agent form (Form 2.20) on file and the governing body would like to grant authority to participate in IMRF elections, IMRF needs to receive a new Form 2.20 for all government types.

IMRF mailed election ballots and candidate biographies to Authorized Agents or governing bodies (as appropriate) on October 12, 2016. Completed ballots must be returned to IMRF's Springfield or Oak Brook office by 4:30 PM, December 8, 2016.

Refer to the 2016 Board Elections page on IMRF's website for additional election information.

IMRF encourages members and employers to take advantage of apps and online services to supplement proven savings strategies during National Save for Retirement Week.

Taking place October 16-22, National Save for Retirement Week is a nationwide effort to raise public awareness about the importance of saving for retirement. The week provides an opportunity for people of all generations to assess their financial health and their strategies for building retirement security.

"New tools emerge every day to help individuals capitalize on opportunities to save and take steps toward a more secure retirement," explains IMRF's Executive Director Louis W. Kosiba. Some resources include apps that assist in smart investing, online tools and calculators to determine the best-suited retirement plans, and online services that offer coupons and discounts.

All IMRF members and employers are invited to fully participate in the various activities and take advantage of the educational resources offered in honor of the week.
