RULES:
All entries must be music that was produced/recorded during the CURRENT Academic Year including May, Summer I and II and Fall, plus Spring sessions (not necessarily as a class project or assignment). March 1st (of previous year – February 28th of current year). Any music released for sale, prior to March 1st of the eligibility year (in this case 2024) will be disqualified.
At least one of the primary producers or performers on each entry should be one of Dr. Bogle's students, a student in the Commercial Music program at Dallas College, or other entrants as approved by Dr. Bogle and the D'Jammy Committee.
Only One Entry Per Person In Each Category—5 Category limit per person. A SINGLE SONG MAY NOT BE ENTERED IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY
Deadline: ENTRY PROCESS IS OPEN UNTIL MARCH 1st, 2025. DON’T PROCRASTINATE. YOU CAN ENTER ANY TIME DURING SUMMER, FALL, OR SPRING SEMESTER UNTIL ENTRY PROCESS CLOSES MARCH 1st.
Email entries to mbogle@dcccd.edu in the correct format—see SAMPLE ENTRY above--and that’s all you have to do)
Mp3’s should be titled with “TitleOfSong-YourName.mp3” and should be exactly one minute or they will be trimmed.
Emailed entries will be accepted (mbogle@dcccd.edu) Category must be specified as well as all other information specified in this document)
If entries are deemed to be in the wrong category they will be moved to a more appropriate category when possible.
Submissions must be “bounced” down to an mp3 for most categories or mp4 (video for Film Scoring only) Logic/Garage Band files may NOT be submitted and will be disqualified. Please use an mp3 bit rate of at least 128 mbps.
SPRING DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION – March 1st. Voting will ensue. D’Jammy Awards announced Late April at Recording Ensemble Concert 1:00PM on Wednesday Recital Series. If you are in multiple classes that vote, you only get to vote once in each category. An additional live voting evening may be set up as needed –time/place TBA—to allow alumni or advisory board members a chance to listen to entries and vote. Voting my be done online by listening to a provided link of entries and a ballot. During voting, ALL entries from a given category are listened to by each voter (approximately 1 minute each) and a rating is assigned to each song/entry from highest to lowest. Voters are asked to vote their absolute conscience as to the merit of each song and not to try to “game the system” or assign ratings based on friendships, alliances, or anything else that is not related to the intrinsic value of the entry/song.
D’Jammy Awards will be announced and certificates awarded during LATE APRIL , in the CVC Recital Hall Each Spring, and/or at another venue TBA (Such as a Public Zoom meeting during the pandemic)
In addition to certificates, some small scholarships MAY be awarded to winner(s) as funds are available.
If your song is available publicly on YouTube, etc., please send the link in addition to your mp3.
***YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE D'JAMMY CEREMONY TO RECEIVE ANY SCHOLARSHIP MONEY AWARDED IF YOU WIN. ANY SCHOLARSHIP MONEY NOT ACCEPTED AT THE CEREMONY WILL BE RETURNED TO THE POOL FOR NEXT YEAR'S D'JAMMY AWARDS.
