Barfoot & Thompson Swim & Run Series 2023/24

We had a great final round of racing for the Barfoot & Thompson Milford – Swim & Run Series. The short 500m swim and 3km run left plenty of time for us to celebrate our Series winners. Keep reading to find out the overall results.

The 500m swim gave Dion Wallwork a handy 10-second lead after the first leg. Trailing behind him were Peter Kadar, Terry Jack and Sam Schofield – with the leading female, Natasha Bowyer, close behind. Bowyer had a comfortable lead over the next female, Isla Westlake, who was followed by Bethany Bromfield.

Wallwork used the 3km run to keep building his lead, eventually finishing a minute ahead. The first place also secured him the Series title overall. Schofield put in a similarly strong run leg to pass Kadar and Jack, which moved him up to second place in the final race for the season. Jack finished off a successful season with a third in Race Nine and the overall Series. Additionally, Chad Gordon's forth place on Wednesday was enough for him to take second in the overall Series.

Bowyer backed up her excellent swim with an equally impressive run to secure first place on Wednesday night. It was a super close battle for second in Race Nine and the Series overall between Westlake and Bromfield. However, it was Westlake who took second place in Race Nine by just seven-seconds and, in doing so, secured the Series overall title. Bromfield finished a notable third and second in the overall standings. While she didn't race on Wednesday, Danielle Claridge finished third in the overall Series.

Our Series is run by a group of volunteers who give up their time each week to put on the races. Thank you to everyone who has helped this season. In particular, our race directors, Adam Pogson and Sophie Robinson, and results guru, Howard Baker, who have done an incredible job.

Another shout out needs to go to our Series sponsors, who provide our spot prizes and cash prizes. Please support them when making purchasing decisions.

That is it for the 2023/2024 season of the Barfoot & Thompson Milford – Swim & Run Series. Thanks for joining us. We can't wait to see you next time!

In the meantime, please also don't forget to follow NHTC on Facebook and Instagram to keep updated on the Series and NHTC training and adventures.

Thank you

The Last Word

Kai Iwi Lakes Tri

Season ending race and Battle of the North

It looks like we're going to have a big contingent for the Kai Iwi Lakes Triathlon on Saturday, 27th April.

Most club members are making a family camping trip out of the event with some travelling North after ANZAC commemorations on Thursday, 25th April.

Some are also staying the Saturday night at Kai Iwi Lakes and making a long weekend of it.

Your President, Amanda Chambers, has re-aquainted herself with Speed Work, specifically for the event.

Even Jeany Rogers (the Maui Dolphin) has dusted off her race shoes and put in an entry.

I'll be heading up late Friday morning with the NHTC tent and BBQ.

We'll be firing up the BBQ from 4.00 pm until late on Friday evening and will fire it up again on race morning for pre-race coffees.

If you're currently not up to racing the whole triathlon then get on the NHTC Member's Page and put a team together (maybe even a family team).

The "Long Course" tri is 700/20/8.5 and the "Short Course" is 350/10/3.5. Both events have team options.
