The Morning Star Weekly Newsletter Vol 5, Edition 17 12/1/2020
Dear Morning Star Families and Friends,

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a blessed, restful and safe Thanksgiving holiday.

I’m happy to report that our annual fund drive is off to a good start. Thank you to those who are helping us promote the campaign and have donated. As you may know today is GIVINGTUESDAY, a global day of giving celebrating generosity. It's a great day to spread the word! You may have seen our e-blast and social media campaign raising awareness for our school. If you have not given to our annual fund drive yet, today is a great day to make a donation. It's also a great day to share our special school with your personal social media friends. If you have a teenager or friend that is good with social media, ask them to help us! We need everyone to get involved during this difficult year.

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP...

ON FACEBOOK make sure to LIKE our page and SHARE our GIVINGTUESDAY posts through December 7. Include a comment that says you're happy to be part of this global movement or why you love our school. Share it with your personal group of friends and ask them to share the post as well.

Sponsor a Teacher
2020 has been a difficult year for our teachers and staff, and everyone is working extremely hard to keep our students learning, both at school and at home. To help spread some holiday cheer an outing at Top Golf has been planned for our hard-working teachers and staff. We are asking for donations to be able to pay for the outing. Thank you to all who have already donated!

No Extended Day Care

Classroom Donations Needed
Due to shortage of paper towels, tissues, etc. at the beginning of the school year we did not add them to our school supply list. As the school year has progressed we have used up our "extras" so we are asking for donations of the following items.

  • Paper towels
  • Sanitizing Wipes
  • Tissues
  • Sanitizer
  • Dry Erase Markers

Please drop off your donations in bins by the front office. Please remember to put your child's last name on any items donated so we can give you volunteer credit hours for your contributions.
ON CAMPUS
All of our students have been enjoying the new outdoor fitness center.
WE NEED YOUR TESTIMONIALS!

Why is Morning Star School special to you? We need testimonials, short videos and photos from our parents, students and family members! You can help by sending in your Morning Star story to Maria Johnson at development@morningstar-jax.org
INTERMEDIATE NEWS
Every morning the students ask, “Where are Boo and Buttercup?”. They are excited to come to school and learn with their furry little classmates. Last week the students got to watch the guinea pigs try bananas for the first time. Needless to say, Boo and Buttercup loved the treat and the attention. We are beyond blessed to have our friends learning with us every day.
JUNIOR HIGH NEWS
Junior High 1 student, Harrison, earned 75 Dojo rewards points which he was able to cash in for a reward. His reward was the opportunity to “show & share” his gecko Leo with his classmates. Good job!
HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
In school AND virtual students played an online history timeline game! Fun way to learn.
