This is Your Brain on Poverty  (12 minute read)
Pacific Standard demonstrates how behavioral economics is opening a new approach in the fight against inequality. Understanding the impact of financial scarcity on decision making can help us redesign supports that give low-income families a better chance at success.
GHCF recently participated in planning a special program on "Catalyzing Investment in Early Childhood Education." We were delighted to collaborate with the Greater Houston Grantmakers' Forum and Caren Sweetland, Chair, Herman H. Fleishman Foundation and President, GHCF Next Gen Alum Giving Circle to bring national experts to Houston. To learn about next steps, contact LaTanya Flix.

FAREWELL TO LINDA GARDNER
For the last 17 years, Linda Gardner has skillfully guided the operations of the Foundation and provided outstanding support to the Governing Board and its committees. She joined GHCF when there were only four staff members! Linda helped lead tremendous growth and took on every change with willingness and an open mind. We will certainly miss Linda tremendously, but we are excited for her as she begins her next chapter!
