Juan Carlos Artigas

Global Head of Research, World Gold Council

Juan Carlos Artigas joined the World Gold Council (WGC) in 2009 and is the Head of Research. He and his team focus on developing timely insights on the gold market including drivers of demand, supply, and performance as well as key attributes of gold as an investment and its role in investor portfolios. During his tenure, Juan Carlos has reshaped the organization’s approach to research through robust and comprehensive financial analysis incorporating findings from gold physical and derivatives markets and their link to macroeconomic and geopolitical dynamics. This perspective has informed the development of WGC’s Gold Valuation Framework, an academically validated methodology for understanding gold performance. Previously, Juan Carlos worked at JPMorgan Securities as a US and Emerging Markets fixed income strategist. In this role, he developed sovereign- and corporate-debt valuation frameworks and contributed to leading US and Emerging Markets financial publications. Juan Carlos holds a BS in Actuarial Sciences from ITAM (Mexico) and an MBA and MS in Statistics from the University of Chicago. He was also a candidate for Doctor of Philosophy in Econometrics and Statistics from the University of Chicago.

Bekxy Kuriakose

Head Academics, OAWA

Bekxy has worked twenty two years in the area of Investments Management of which nineteen years were spent in the mutual fund industry and three years in Life Insurance Industry. Her primary area of focus has been fixed income and associated products. In this capacity I have worked with SBI Mutual Fund, Reliance Life Insurance, DBS Chola Mutual Fund, L&T Mutual Fund and Principal Mutual Fund. She has now taken up a new role as Head (Academics) with OAWA, an online finance edtech startup which marries her passion for promoting financial awareness with her experience and knowledge of the Indian financial markets.

Jyoti Rai

India Working Group Lead, 100 Women in Finance

With over two decades of experience, having served across Banks, Stock Exchanges, Asset Management, News & Information Vending, Custody & Clearing, Consulting & Offshore advisory, Jyoti is truly “Employee of the Indian Financial Markets & an India specialist”. Her previous employers include Citibank, Nippon AMC, Thomson Reuters, AIG Asset Management, MCX, SBI-Soc Gen Custodial Services, and Edelweiss. Jyoti is a strong believer in community building and is currently the India lead for 100 Women in Finance, a global network of professionals in the finance industry. She is dedicated to empowering women through providing a network, resources and knowledge to find their personal path to success. In her free time, Jyoti finds inspiration in mentoring start-ups, supporting old age homes, traveling, and immersing herself in the arts of all forms. She is an avid reader of non-fiction and Indian mythology and has been writing her reflections on "in the world driven by Darwin theory of survival of the fittest where do genes of kindness come from," showcasing her passion for knowledge and exploration.
