Cathy Pena
Chief Investment Officer, Fidelity Investments
Catherine Pena is the chief investment officer at Strategic Advisers LLC, a registered investment adviser and a Fidelity Investments company. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals. In her role as CIO, Ms. Pena is responsible for overseeing the investment teams for Portfolio Advisory Services Accounts, Portfolio Advisory Services Accounts – Tax-Sensitive Accounts, Workplace Managed Accounts, Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund® (CGF) Charitable Legacy Pool, and the Strategic Advisers Funds. Previously, Ms. Pena was a portfolio manager in the Global Institutional Solutions (GIS) group at Fidelity Investments for eight years. GIS is an investment team within Fidelity’s Asset Management Solutions division, an integrated investment, distribution, and client service organization dedicated to meeting the unique needs of the institutional marketplace. In this role, Ms. Pena managed custom multi-asset class mandates for institutional investors and financial intermediaries and provided strategic asset allocation, manager selection, and active allocation. Prior to 2013, Ms. Pena was the portfolio manager of Strategic Advisers Small-Mid Cap Fund and Strategic Advisers Small- Mid Cap Multi-Manager Fund. Previously, she held various other positions, including that of portfolio manager of various multi-asset class and multi-manager portfolios for clients of the Portfolio Advisory Services mutual fund wrap program, and research analyst/senior research analyst. Before joining Fidelity in 1996, Ms. Pena worked as an analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. She has been in the financial industry since 1995. Ms. Pena earned her bachelor of science in business administration degree in economics and her bachelor of arts degree in French from Xavier University, as well as her master of arts degree in economics from Southern Methodist University. She is also a CFA® charterholder.
Katrina Price
Managing Director, Director, Manager Research, Wellington Management
Kat is a member of the Fundamental Factor Platform Investment Team which applies a factor-based framework to create innovative strategies to solve client challenges and meet customized objectives. As a leader on the team, she supports the development of next generation analytics and talent, and ensures the team has the resources needed for success. As a researcher, she analyses investment strategies and trends across the firm’s investment platform. She also applies her research by collaborating with allocators on custom solutions and advising clients on a variety of investment topics including manager evaluation, portfolio construction, and risk management. Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2016, Kat was an assistant director and product specialist at Rothschild and Co. (2015 – 2016). Before that, she worked for HSBC Global Banking and Markets as an associate in equity derivatives strategy (2014 – 2015) and as a portfolio solutions manager at Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company (2007 – 2012). Kat earned her MBA from INSEAD (2013); her MSc in neuroscience from the University of Oxford (2006); and her BA in psychology, philosophy, and neuroscience from the University of Redlands (2005). Additionally, she holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.
Sarah Samuels
Partner, NEPC
Sarah is a partner at NEPC and oversees the firm's investment managers research teams across public equities and credit, hedge funds and private markets. Prior to joining NEPC, she was managing director at Wellesley College, where she was responsible for the investment of the College’s endowment, including manager selection across private markets, public markets, and hedge funds, asset allocation and portfolio construction. Earlier in her career, Sarah was the deputy chief investment officer at Mass PRIM, where she chaired the internal Investment Committee and oversaw asset allocation, investment research, and manager selection across asset classes. Samuels led the portfolio management of the $45 billion public markets and hedge fund portfolios. She regularly presented investment recommendations, asset allocation, and portfolio management strategy to the Investment Committee and Board, and was a member of the four-person Executive Management Team tasked with strategic planning and management of the organization. Samuels also worked as an associate portfolio manager at Boston Advisors and in a variety of roles at Wellington Management Company. Sarah is Chair of the CFA Boston Board, serves on the Advisory Board for Girls Who Invest, and founded the Boston chapter of Private Equity Women Investor Network (PEWIN). She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations, earned an MBA in Finance at Boston University, and a BA in German and minor in Business from the University of New Hampshire.
Megan Kelly
Vice President, Research Manager, Wellington Management
As a Research Manager, Megan conducts research on factor investing, risk management, manager evaluation, analytical systems, and portfolio construction for the Fundamental Factor Platform Team. Her research applies a factor-based framework to create new, innovative strategies to solve client challenges and meet customized objectives. Team members serve as portfolio managers for multi-manager, factor-based, and hedge fund strategies. Megan also analyzes key investment trends across Wellington’s equity strategies and leads the team’s Integrated Risk and Investment Solutions process, which applies the team’s analytical framework to help clients evaluate performance and risk on their own portfolios. Megan joined the firm in 2012 after graduating from Bowdoin College, where she earned her BA in economics and Spanish. Additionally, she holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.
