Hear in detail the choices made by the panelists, as well as the opportunity costs, the on-the-job application of the curriculum and the value they gained respectively. The speakers will reflect on the impact their selected designation had for their career. Bring questions and compare notes with colleagues after the presentations.

Jean Kim
Vice President, SMBC
Jean Kim is Vice President, Client Executive, at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). Her responsibilities include sourcing new relationships, originating / underwriting and executing structured credit deals and managing on-going client relationships in credit asset management / private debt space. She is also a member of SMBC’s WIN (Women’s Inclusion Network) and participated in WIN’s mentoring circle program. Before SMBC, she worked with Bank of America as an investment banking associate in Financial Sponsors Group. She graduated from Harvard Business School with MBA and holds MA in International Relations from Yale where she was a Fulbright scholar. She is originally from Seoul, South Korea. She is an active member of HBS Angels of New York, HBS Club of New York and served as a circle leader / facilitator for HBS Alumnae circle for two years. In her past time, she loves experimenting different work out classes, travelling, hiking and taking improv classes.
Kaitlin Reedy, CAIA
Associate, MKP Capital
Kaitlin Reedy is an Associate in Client Solutions at MKP Capital Management, primarily focused on building and maintaining relationships with prospective and existing investors. Prior to joining MKP in 2016, Kaitlin worked at a newly founded financial technology company, SAF Platform, which focuses on automating interactions between investors and alternative asset managers. When she first graduated, Kaitlin worked as a paralegal at White & Case LLP where she assisted with the preparation and management of bank finance transactions. Kaitlin received a B.A. in Public Policy and Law from Trinity College. She remains actively involved as a member of Trinity’s National Alumni Association executive committee, with a particular focus on career development and students success within financial services. She is also a member of 100 Women in Finance’s NextGen New York committee. Kaitlin holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation, and is currently a Level II candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Anna Toshach, CFA
Senior Equity Analyst
Anna Toshach is a Senior Equity Analyst focused on the Consumer sector, with experience across several mutual fund platforms. Most recently, she served as Sector Manager for the Core and Large Cap Growth teams OppenheimerFunds, where she co-founded the company’s Women in Investments network and initiated a corporate partnership with Girls Who Invest. Prior to that, she was an analyst with the Fundamental Growth team at Wells Capital Management based in Indianapolis, IN. Anna earned a BS, Cum Laude, in Finance from Marquette University, where she was a member of the Applied Investment Management Program. Anna is also a member of Pipeline Angels, 100 Women in Finance, 7 Degrees of Women in Finance, and serves as Vice Chair for the Young Leaders Committee at the CFA Society of New York.
Lauren Surzyn, CFA, CAIA
Executive Director, UBS
Lauren Surzyn is an Executive Director at UBS Investment Bank. She recently joined a start-up team called UBS Data Solutions after spending 11 years in the Prime Brokerage Division in NYC and London in three roles - sales, capital introduction, and business consulting - where she advised start-up as well as established hedge funds on industry best practices. She holds leadership roles in numerous cultural initiatives at UBS including the Women of Investment Banking Committee, intern and graduate recruiting, talent mobility and women’s sponsorship initiatives. Lauren graduated from Princeton University in 2007 with a degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2015, where she graduated with Dean's Honors, having received the Feldberg Fellowship, a merit-based scholarship. She volunteers actively for her alma maters. Lauren currently serves as Vice Chair of the Princeton National Annual Giving Committee where she helps raise approximately $60M annually from alumni. She was a board member in London for the Princeton UK chapter and chairs Princeton's Alumni Schools Bronx Chapter where she interviews high school students seeking admission to the university. Lauren is the President of the Feldberg Fellows of Columbia alumni group. She co-founded the XIX Society at St. Paul's School, a women's network created to build a strong community of alumnae across generations and geographies. She enjoys traveling, squash and volleyball. Lauren is a CFA Charterholder.
