164th Annual Meeting
of Grace Episcopal Church
Sunday, January 22 at 9 a.m.
All are encouraged to attend the 164th annual meeting of Grace Parish on Sunday, January 22, at 9 a.m. in the parish hall. This year we have a special report from the Discernment Team that distils the survey information and the listening sessions into hopes for Grace's next chapter of life and ministry. The congregation will then have the opportunity to offer their feedback in conversation with one another.
At this gathering parish members will also elect new vestry members for three year terms and hear reports on the financial status of the parish.
The vestry approved expanding the number of Vestry members by one by adding one new member each year for 2023, 2024 and 2025. This change allows the vestry to expand participation in the leadership and management of the parish (this year, electing two new members instead of one). It is meant to encourage greater diversity in terms of parish input and greater support from the vestry for parish ministries. This change will bring the total number of vestry members to 12 by 2025.
Rebecca Harrison will run for a second three-year term, Chris Ludbrook has agreed to serve one additional year as Senior Warden. Jane Cenova and Mike Lillmars were nominated to serve for a three-year term.

Souper Bowl of Caring
The junior and senior high school members of Grace's Episcopal Youth Community are helping those less fortunate by collecting nonperishable food goods and funds for Kirk Care through The Souper Bowl of Caring. Your donations will support the hungry right here within the Kirkwood School District. In the past few years, Kirk Care has supported the food needs of over 6,000 of our neighbors.
To make this even more exciting, the Gospel side will be pitted against the Epistle side to see which team will be victorious in the Big Game. On Sunday, February 12, the youth will be in the Narthex after the 10:00 a.m. service representing their sides to collect donations. Your support of our community is greatly appreciated.

First Sundays @ Five
Sunday, February 5
Join us for a candlelight service of music, readings, responses, and prayers.
The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (February 2), known popularly as Candlemas, commemorates the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the presentation of Christ in the temple, which took place 40 days after his birth as Jewish law required.
Once in the temple, Jesus was purified by the prayer of Simeon in the presence of Anna the prophetess. Upon seeing the Messiah, Simeon gave thanks to the Lord, singing a hymn now called the Nunc Dimittis.

Pastoral Care
Grace’s clergy are available by appointment to discuss personal, pastoral, or spiritual matters; please call or email the clergy directly. The lay pastoral care team members are also available to visit and bring communion to those unable to be at church in person. Please let the clergy or Sara Losse know (saratlosse@yahoo.com) if you or someone you know in the congregation is in need of a pastoral visit.
If you have a concern that you would prefer to keep private, please let the clergy or Ruth Moore know (clesiemo1@yahoo.com) so that she can put your need on the prayer chain. Throughout the week, members of the Grace Prayer Chain pray privately for the congregation's special needs.
In case of a pastoral emergency, please call the parish office at 314-821-1806. A priest is on call at all times. In case of hospitalization, when a church member is near death or has died, please notify the clergy as soon as possible so that we may minister to you and your family with prayers and anointing.

Transition Prayer
Almighty God, who knows our needs even before we ask, grant us a spirit of faith and courage, that we may have the strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; look graciously on this parish family and send forth your Holy Spirit to guide us to be of one heart and mind, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
