We are thrilled to announce that Season One of "SLATERSVILLE: America's First Mill Village" has been nominated by the 46h Annual Boston/New England Chapter Emmy Awards in the categories of DOCUMENTARY for Christian de Rezendes and MUSIC COMPOSITION for Stephen Gilbane, an Arlington, MA resident whose mother also came from North Smithfield.
A heartfelt congrats to our amazing crew, our supporters, and all other nominees, and thanks to Rhode Island PBS for their airing of Season One. The awards will take place in Boston on June 10.Previously on April 15, the series also received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival in Worcester. Thank you, MASSIFF!!
Our next big screening will be at the Block Island Film Festival on Friday, June 2.

NORTHMEN 5K RUN/WALK
to benefit the North Smithfield Athletic Association (NSAA)

This community event kicks off at 9:00 am, and will appeal to local and regional racers. The Northmen 5K will begin at the top of the hill outside the athletic field gates, and end with a lap around the track. Race net-proceeds will be donated to North Smithfield Athletic Association (NSAA). All North Smithfield athletes are encouraged to participate in some way shape or form. Three Historic Cemetery Awareness
events taking place on
Sunday - May 7th in Woonsocket
As part of the 2023 Historic Cemetery Awareness Weeks, the Woonsocket Historical Society and the North Smithfield Heritage Association will partner to host three events on Sunday, May 7th at the Smithfield Friends Meeting House and Cemetery located at 108 Smithfield Rd in Woonsocket, RI (across from Union Cemetery in North Smithfield, RI). The events will begin at 1 pm.
An open house will start at 1 pm, which includes a brief talk by Marcel St. Germain, about the historic Quaker Meeting House originally built in 1719.
Irene Blais, President of the WHS, will then invite guests outside to visit the oldest cemetery in Woonsocket. An NSHA historian will provide a tour of the Friends Burial Ground where five Revolutionary War Veterans are buried.
Finally, Ed Walker, an NSHA gravestone restoration expert, will offer a hands-on stone cleaning and restoration workshop. After the workshop, participants may walk across the street to the historic Hotchkiss Cemetery (far left side of Union Cemetery) and see the many headstones that have been repaired and cleaned by NSHA Restoration Teams.
These three events are FREE and open to the public. Parking is available across the street in Union Cemetery.

All dogs within the town must be licensed by April 30, 2023 to avoid a late fee. The cost is $6.00 per dog and proof of rabies immunization is required.
For your convenience and safety, we are continuing to use our online dog license program. We encourage you to apply for dog licenses online.

If you are unable to access this program, we strongly suggest that you mail us a new or updated rabies certificate along with a check for $6.00. In return, our office will send your original rabies certificate back to you with your license to the mailing address provided.

Live Streaming Open Meetings
LIVESTREAMING OPEN MEETINGS
A. Livestreaming for Town Council, Halliwell Review Committee, Zoning Board and Planning Board: The Town will provide livestreaming for the open meetings of the Town Council, Halliwell Review Committee, Zoning Board of Review, and Planning Board whenever feasible via YouTube, Zoom, or some other technology. If technical difficulties occur during the livestream of an open meeting, the open meeting will continue to proceed as scheduled without livestreaming. (Livestreaming increases public access to public meetings in addition to the right of the public to attend open meetings in person.)
B. Public must be physically present to participate. Members of the public, applicants, petitioners, expert s, etc. who want to participate in an open meeting in any fashion must be physically present at the meeting. Members of the public, applicants, petitioners, experts, etc. will not be allowed to participate in an open meeting remotely by offering comment, testimony, or other remarks. through virtual means.
C. No other Board, Commission, or Committee will be livestreamed: Except as specified above, the Town will not provide livestreaming for any other Board, Commission or Committee.
D. Technical Difficulties: If technical difficulties occur during any livestream, the open meeting will continue to proceed as scheduled.
