Simple Home Economics

The average family of four spends approximately $500 each month on groceries, year round.  Milk, eggs, meat, produce, as well as prepared foods and non-food items.  It is probably fair to say that at least one third of that budget is spent on perishable food items.  That works out to $41/week or over $2000 per year.  A whole farm, free choice, year round farmshare at our farm costs $1500 - for about $3000 worth of food.

So for $500 less, you get half again as much food that is local and sustainable.

PLUS, our shareholders get natural products, organic staples and prepared foods at a price at just above our cost.  It could save you an additional third on the remainder of your grocery bill.

So we figure we could save an average family of four  $2500 a year.  That sounds like good economics to us.

If paying for your share all at once is a hardship, you can layaway your share.
