                                               "Waterflowers"
We have the opportunity to extend this marvelous exhibition for the month of November!  If you missed it, now is your chance to see these exquisite, unique images of water flowers!

A forty+ year resident of Kansas, Geer Kellas has shown her work in galleries & museums across the state from Wichita to Atchison sharing her art work and her art-business skills with the greater art community. She has chosen collage as her main art medium because it is so far the only medium that focuses our eyes on art work the way our vision really works, in pieces & parts. Her fascination with flowers started at about age 3 when her great grandmother Rosa taught her to plant seed in the garden; she still loves digging in the dirt.

Andrea Norris, Art Historian & author:

"Depicting pink and white lotuses - gorgeous flowers that grow in muddy, swampy ponds - with liberal use of reflective gold, Judi Geer Kellas's paintings exude warmth and light. Flowers have always been an important subject for Kellas; they symbolize both beauty and strength in the richly colored simple shapes she uses to depict them. She is not afraid to break images and recombine the fragments into new compositions, so that her paintings pay homage to Japanese design, where seemingly disjunctive elements actually work beautifully together. "

Dr. Maureen Korp, Art historian, author and critic, (Ottawa, Canada) writes of the "Waterflower"series by Judi Geer Kellas:

"Flowers are grace notes, marking poignant moments we recall in the sprawl of our own messy lives. We remember the bridal bouquet, the boutonniere, the funeral wreath, and why those occasions were accompanied by flowers.  For the Buddhist, the lotus arises from muck, that is why we must think upon its beauty.  Judi Geer Kellas' work, similarly, prompts us to slow down, look closely, breathe softly.  Here is the

beautiful water flower.  A miracle."
