SUMMER READING SUGGESTIONS

In the CUMC Library

Help. Thanks. Wow. The Three Essential Prayers by Anne Lamott. With humor and directness, Anne Lamott tells us how to pray effectively using these three words.

The Triumph of Christianity by Bart Ehrmann. How did a religion become the official religion of Rome, converting thirty million people in just four centuries?

Forgiveness: A Lenten Study by Marjorie Thompson. Not for Lent only! Forgiving others is a year-round Christian discipline.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy. A book of inspiration, friendship, and support, this is a good book for parents to read with young children.

On the Threshold of Transformation: Daily Meditations for Men by Richard Rohr. Everyone will benefit from taking a journey inward. Start this at any time of the year.

John Adams by David McCullough. The fascinating story of our 2nd president and “founding father” as told by the pre-eminent historian.

Other Considerations

A Matter of Chance: A Novel by Julie Maloney. An eight-year-old child is abducted from a Jersey shore town, and her mother begins a search for her.

The Masterpiece: A Novel by Fiona Davis. In this historical fiction novel Grand Central Terminal is saved from destruction, while an art teacher makes a revealing discovery hidden in the Terminal.

This Sunday’s, June 30th, 10:00 AM service with feature a mini-praise band with Joanna Thilagar, violin, Nathan Beland, trumpet, Mike Maguire, piano, Steve Davis, and Peter Hill, bass, performing Jesus Loves Me. Join us!

The Ukulele Orchestra will next meet on Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 AM. For more information please contact Peter Hill, Director of Music Ministries at petepiano@mac.com

During the Summer, there will be two Summer pick-up choir opportunities on Sunday, July 21st and Sunday, August 18th. On both Sundays, we will meet at 9:00 AM in the Music Room to practice an easy-to-learn anthem to sing for the 10:00 AM service. All singers, whether you are a member of the Covenant Choir or a guest, are welcome to sing!
