After an early season victory at Friendship Speedway and missing out on quite a few races recently due to inclement weather, Matt Long Racing made the trip to Virginia Motor Speedway this past weekend for the FASTRAK Racing Series $3000 To Win event.  The Jamaica, Virginia track is one of MLR's favorite venues and after a 2 year absence, the team was anxious to return with their Mello Yello XR1 Rocket Chassis.

 
Continuing the early season momentum, MLR posted the 2nd fastest time in their group and then powered their way to victory in Heat #4.  Starting 4th in the 40 Lap Feature, Long looked to manage his tires and position himself for a run at the lead duo.  Despite slightly missing the set up on the car, Long was still able to score a podium finish with his 3rd place run.
 


Up next for MLR is a return trip to Friendship Speedway.   In their only visit to the Elkin, NC track back in March, MLR scored the South Eastern Crate Association Late Model victory.   The team now looks to use that experience to guide them in pursuit of their 2nd victory in 2018.
