Dear Joan,
Interfaith Power and Light was one of the first organizations I connected with when I first moved to New Mexico six years ago. We were all part of a coalition that worked on building the third-ever statewide renewable portfolio standard and ensuring the language protected our most vulnerable communities.
This focus to lead and act on our climate crisis, since it is our moral responsibility to protect all living creatures on our planet, struck me - increasingly more so in our current age inundated with streams of information and algorithms that demand we turn to outrage.
Serving on this board, seeking interdependence and community, and elevating the voices of our many frontline communities - this work and these people have given me light and hope in the four years since I joined the board. At every turn, this board has worked to bridge every conceivable gap - intergenerational, interfaith, intercultural, etc.
I’m honored to work alongside a group committed to these ideals. I have seen firsthand the power and change that happens when we have intentional conversations and intentional community with one another. As someone who works in places where people live very different lives than I do, I believe strongly that a true conversation can save and heal.
This is the heart of Interfaith Power and Light, and it is why I am a proud board member and supporter. I ask that you consider supporting us by donating to help our work in creating interdependence in our communities.
Blessings,
Arcelia Isais-Gastelum
