Dear Lori,
Spring has officially sprung. Flowers and trees are blooming, pollen is descending, and life is in full bloom. This time of year always has a profound way of reminding me of the beauty and miracle of new life. Although one might not always be a fan of the April showers (or downpours) that bring May flowers, there is something remarkable in seeing new life spring forth. It reminds me keenly of the season we find ourselves in now – that of Eastertide.
For Christians, Easter is not just a single day – but an entire season that continues until Pentecost when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. We find ourselves now near the beginning of this season in which we are called to remember and celebrate the beauty, majesty, and miracle of our resurrected Lord and Savior – who like the blossoming flowers that sprung to new life, came back to life so that we all may have life to the fullest.
This, here and now, is a season of new, resurrected life. As we journey through this season of Easter, may we in our rejoicing also take time to deeply consider what it means to say, “Christ is Risen” and how we, as the church, are the body of the Risen Lord.
I hope to see you in worship this Sunday online and in person. May God’s peace be with you until we see each other soon.
