“THE VOICES PROJECT” SET FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4

AT LOS ANGELES, CA’S FAMED HENSON STUDIOS

For Women Life Freedom (FWLF), the newly launched music industry non-profit platform for unified support of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Iran, has announced “The Voices Project,” a landmark event that will see more than 16,000 voices come together for the largest single recording of voices in history.

Set for Saturday, February 4 at Los Angeles, CA’s famed Henson Studios (where a legendary supergroup of leading artists once gathered to sing “We Are The World”), “The Voices Project” invites singers from all over to participate in For Women Life Freedom’s very special new arrangement of Iranian artist Shervin Hajipour’s iconic protest anthem, “Baraye.” This session will be produced and arranged by the founding members of the For Women Life Freedom group, recording artist and producer Taylor Hanson (HANSON), Persian artist/composer Hamid Saeidi (Opium Moon), legendary producer, mixer, and engineer Jim Scott (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sting, Tom Petty), producer/artist David Garza (Fiona Apple, Midland) and conductor Noah Luna. Those wishing to lend their voices to “The Voices Project” can participate in person or via remote recording. Complete details can be found now HERE.

In September 2022, the actions of the Iranian government in arresting and killing innocent women for reasons such as showing their hair in public awoke an uproar, ignited in part by the death of the young Iranian woman Mahsa Jina Amini. After her death, thousands began to peacefully protest across Iran, led by young women and joined by people demanding an end to this senseless violence from their government. “Baraye” captured the attention of millions around the world when Iranian singer-songwriter Shervin Hajipour courageously shared his song to speak out against the horrific actions in his country. Now, on the eve of the Grammy Awards, the song “Baraye” is also in consideration for the brand new, “Song For Social Change” special merit award, which received overwhelming submissions from the global network of supporters of this movement, which brings even greater gravity to the historic effort. The song’s refrain of "For Woman, Life, Freedom" became a rallying cry during the massive protests, in both Iran and elsewhere. As a result, Hajipour was silenced by arrest and currently lives in fear for his life, simply for sharing music.

Inspired and moved by these brave examples, a group of music industry leaders both inside and outside of the Persian and Iranian communities came together as For Women Life Freedom, a 501c3 non-profit committed to using the arts to elevate awareness and help to bring support to the people of Iran. Now, with “The Voices Project,” FWLF invites all people to stand together and be the Voice of the Voiceless, singing “For Women, Life, Freedom” wherever they are in the world, joining thousands of fellow singers determined to bring an end to the abhorrent violence currently happening in Iran while also furthering a continued and sustained effort to create change in Iran and freedom for all people.
