Database Engine Upgrade


Over the coming weeks we will be updating the main database engine for all customers.


The 'database engine' processes the requests for data between FLEX and the databases. This update brings improvements to how those requests are handled.


A member of the support team will be in touch to schedule a time to carry out the upgrade, it doesn't take very long and we will keep disruption to a minimum.


If we have unattended access to your server computer then we will email you to let you know when the update will be performed..

eGOS Patch #033


We released a high priority patch (Thursday Morning) that includes multiple updates to eGOS England - the full list of changes can be seen further down this email in the 'Patches' section.


A main change in this patch is the addition of a quick-select option that will select all 'Finished' or 'Unfinished' claim statuses in one click.

Till: Deposit Amounts


By default FLEX will display a deposit button on the payments popup in the till. Setting a minimum deposit value gives you the peace of mind that you are covering your costs for every sale.


In the picture below, we have set our deposit to 100% of the fees on the receipt and half of all other goods.


To set the deposit amount:

  1. In FLEX navigate to 'Setup > Till > General > Sales Groups
  2. Enter the required percentage deposit against each sale group
  3. The deposit value will be calculated & displayed on the button when you take a payment (see below)

If you do not require the deposit button, maybe you always take full payment on order, then you can hide it:

  1. In FLEX navigate to 'Setup > Branch > Select Branch > Data
  2. Tick the option to 'Hide Deposit Button'

Clinical 'Quick Copy'


To speed-up the filling of a clinical assessment record, why not enable copying of previous assessment results, a useful tool for procedures where answers seldom change!


The copy option can be enabled per procedure, it is not a global setting.


To enable the copy option:

  1. In FLEX navigate to Setup > Examinations > Clinical > Procedures (Tab)
  2. In the far right window ('Procedures'), tick the 'Enable Copy' option for each procedures you want to copy forward.

How to copy assessment data...


  1. During an examination, when viewing the 'Assessment' tab - click the 'Copy' button and select where you would like to copy data from 'Sight Exam' or 'Pre-Exam'
  2. Select the sight exam or pre-exam record from the popup window and the data will be copied into the results boxes for relevant procedures.

Latest Patches

  • HPP indicates high priority patches that are downloaded and installed automatically
  • MTS indicates patches that have been deployed to the 'Hosted FLEX' servers
  • REQ indicates a patch that will be loaded on request or when an issue is highlighted

  • Improvements to the background refresh procedure
  • Fixes an issue where the 'Title' didn't display correctly, under specific conditions
  • #033 - eGOS England
  • Adds a quick way of selecting all 'Finished' or 'Unfinished' claim statuses in the 'eOphthalmic Claims' window in business intelligence.
  • Updates how 'Tint' totals are calculated on GOS3 & GOS 4
  • Updates how 'Prism' totals are calculates on GOS3 & GOS4
  • Updates how GOS1 and GOS3 are linked, only finished GOS1 forms with the same 'Test ID' as the one used on GOS3 will be used.
  • 'Small Glasses' and 'Special Facial Characteristics' values are being correctly populated from the voucher setup table.
  • A confirmation dialog has been added when 'Bifocal/Varifocal' voucher is selected and Distance or Near are chosen in the Suppliers and/or Patients declaration. The confirmation dialog also shows if Single Vision voucher is selected and 'Bifocal/Varifocal' are ticked in declarations.
