Quick-Tip: Salutation Format


If you want to change the default format of the patient salutation you can, you may want to exclude the first name or only use the first name - the choice is yours.


To set the deault format:


  • Go to Menu > Setup > Patients > Titles & Genders
  • In 'Salutation Format', tick the options to be included


Don't forget you can overtype the salutation on the patient record if you want to!

SQL Database Engine Update


The update to v26 of the SQL database manager and control centre is progressing well, 30% of FLEX sites have now been updated.


Our hosted FLEX system was updated last night.


The update doesn't take very long to complete, if you can make 10 minutes available to the support team when they call it would be very much appreciated.

After an un-planned hiatus, this years event moves to a new venue at the 'Staverton Park Estate' near Daventry.

Configuring Printers in FLEX

When you print from FLEX, the output is sent to the default printer for the computer you are using - it is possible to direct printed output for different parts of the system to specific printers on your network


e.g. an order may need to be printed in the lab and a receipt at a networked receipt printer on reception.


The button below links to a knowledgebase article that explains how to set the printer configuration for your computer.


There are also some special options that are available, outlined below:


  • **Ask**
  • This will bring up the Windows printer dialog window so the user can choose the printer
  • **Export**
  • This will export to a PDF file, the user can choose the export path.

FLEX Shortcut Keys


Looking for a quicker way to get around FLEX, maybe this list of shortcut keys may help:


Function Keys

  • F1 - opens the FLEX online knowledgebase system
  • F2 - takes you to your 'Home Screen'
  • F3 - opens the address book
  • F4 - opens the messaging window
  • F6 - locks the FLEX system
  • F10 - triggers the 'Go' button when performing a search (stock screen)


When editing / inserting records

  • CTRL + S - saves the record
  • CTRL + R - cancels the record

Quick-Tip: Get more 'Inactive'


Over time you may find your lists in FLEX get cluttered with out of date descriptions and become difficult to navigate.


In most cases, old descriptions can be hidden by making them 'Inactive'.


When adding / editing list tables in setup look out for the 'Active' or 'Inactive' columns, if they are there you can tick the descriptions you want to hide and make your selection lists more user friendly.


Here are just some of the lists that have an active / inactive column:


  • Patient Note Groups
  • Patient Surgeries / GP's
  • Till Payment Methods
  • Till Discounts
  • Diary Consultation Rooms
  • Diary Appointment Reasons
  • Diary Appointment Return Reasons

Latest Patches

  • HPP indicates high priority patches that are downloaded and installed automatically
  • MTS indicates patches that have been deployed to the 'Hosted FLEX' servers
  • REQ indicates a patch that will be loaded on request or when an issue is highlighted
