Thanks to everyone that took part in last weeks poll, 91% of responders said they would like to see the diary changed to show the height of the slot represent the length of the appointment.


Your feedback has been passed to the development team who will make a decision about the best way to implement the change for those that want it whilst also being mindful that not everyone wants the diary changed (I see a switch being added to setup!!)


The next major release is scheduled for November, release notes will be sent out ahead of the update,

Eye care Electronic Referral System (EeRS)


You may recall that last September we were asking for practices to help us pilot EeRS - we finally have some movement with 2 of the system suppliers (Opera & Vantage) who are ready to start user acceptance testing, we are in the process of setting up these early pilot sites.

This years event moves to a new venue at the 'Staverton Park Estate' near Daventry.

Hosted FLEX: Export to PDF


One of the reasons that practices like 'Hosted FLEX' is its ability to run on platforms other than Windows i.e. iPads & Macs. There are some limitations to running FLEX on these devices though, because FLEX is a Windows application. One such limitation is printing - FLEX cannot directly access the printing sub-system on these devices which means it cannot see the attached printers.


To get around this limitation we have added the ability to export to a PDF which is saved on the local device (iPad etc) - with the PDF on the device it is a straightforward task to open the file and send it to the printer.

Diary - Staff Restrictions


It is possible to set restrictions on which staff members can be booked to perform certain appointment types.


There are two levels 'Warned' or 'Not Allowed':

  • Warned - the appointment type is available to select but the user will be shown a warning, they can choose to continue or cancel.
  • Not Allowed - the appointment type is not available for selection.

Latest Patches

  • HPP indicates high priority patches that are downloaded and installed automatically
  • MTS indicates patches that have been deployed to the 'Hosted FLEX' servers
  • REQ indicates a patch that will be loaded on request or when an issue is highlighted

  • We have made a change to the process for logging in to and checking DocMail balances.
  • #041 - Printer Configuration (MTS)
  • There is now an export option available in 'Printer Configuration' that allows reports to be exported directly to PDF (see feature focus above)
